Director, GA4GH Inc. Board of Directors

In 2020, the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health launched GA4GH Inc., a not-for-profit organization incorporated under the federal laws of Canada. This legal entity serves as a keystone for the Global Alliance, working alongside existing organisational structures such as the Product Steering Committee (PSC), the Strategic Advisory Board (SAB), funders, and Host Institutions.

GA4GH Inc. is currently governed by a Board of Directors. GA4GH is seeking additional members from our community to serve as Directors. The Board of Directors will work collaboratively to provide strategic leadership and governance for GA4GH Inc.

Responsibilities

The board provides oversight to the management of the activities and affairs of GA4GH Inc., the Canadian non-profit organisation. Directors are required to act in the best interest of the organisation (fiduciary duty) and to perform to the best of their abilities (duty of care).

Commitment

Directors meet as a Board one to four times per year and serve a minimum of one three-year term, with the opportunity to be re-elected at the end of a term. Directors are limited to nine years of service.

Eligibility

While Directors may reside anywhere in the world, GA4GH strives to achieve greater geographic diversity and representation. Preference will be given to individuals who are:

• from countries and cultural backgrounds not currently represented on the Board;
• from groups or sectors not currently represented on the Board;
• have demonstrated engagement with GA4GH and commitment to its mission;
• are experienced in one or more of the following areas:
  • industry, such as pharma, clinical genetics, or big data
  • ELSI
  • information security or data security
  • finance or business administration
  • patient advocacy
