Job Description

About the team

The Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) is a global volunteer standards development organisation dedicated to realising the potential of genomics in health. Supported by staff distributed across five Host Institutions (Ontario Institute for Cancer Research, Broad Institute, Wellcome Sanger Institute, EMBL’s European Bioinformatics Institute, and the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Institute of Genomic Medicine at McGill University), members of the genomics community provide expert leadership to GA4GH’s Work Streams and Partner Engagement communities.

The Regulatory and Ethics Work Stream (REWS) aims to create and harmonise forward-looking anticipatory data governance resources, policies and, policy tools that address various ethical, legal, and social implications of international data sharing.

There is an open position for one of two Co-Lead positions to help guide the direction of REWS. We are inviting expressions of interest in the volunteer role of REWS Co-Lead.

Your role

This is an opportunity to be at the heart of GA4GH standards development and integration work. Working closely with  members of the GA4GH staff REWS Co-Leads contribute to the leadership and direction of REWS efforts, in line with GA4GH’s wider direction and goals, as set at an organisational level. This role involves developing the REWS roadmap strategy, identifying work that can be taken forward by the group, engaging a broad constituency of stakeholders to promote REWS and its initiatives, chairing calls, working through technical issues as a group, and building consensus. It also includes actively engaging leads, GA4GH Driver Projects, and contributors to other GA4GH workstreams to keep informed of their work and facilitate the development of cross workstream products. As REWS works with groups from across GA4GH and the world, considerable liaison work will be involved, along with the need to engage with other teams both within GA4GH and externally.
